Hi Everyone! I just bought a Sony 6700 semi portable with a broken whip antenna. Should I replace with a generic or try to solder an extension to exsisting first thee sections? Thanks in advance marc

Soldering is only wishful thinking that it will be good as new. You'd have to grind off the chrome and get it down to the brass base. Find a generic antenna. How long is the present antenna??

If you place a piece of brass rod inside the two broken pieces it should hold up very well. About an inch or so long.
