Often advertised in TV, I was wondering if anyone on the forum has had the experience of using this service.
What does it end up costing once you allow them to do their "free" scan?

I honestly don't see the need to use a service when there's all kinds of software available free on the internet that does the same thing. One that I use that works well is "Piriform CCleaner".It is a very thorough overall system cleaner,as well as a registry cleaner.
Back in my foolish days when I used Norton Antivirus,CCleaner would remove bugs that Norton left behind. Then I smartened-up and started using Microsoft Essentials.Go to CCleaner.com to download the software and give it a shot.

I've heard that it's at best a waste of money and at worst, a potential source of trouble. Their free scan will ALWAYS find a problem. Even in a brand new computer. You can use free registry cleaners to get the same results. I've used a free version of CC Cleaner. There are others just as good or better.

Joseph Another gimmick if you ask me. I use Ccleaner, Tuneup Utilities and Raxco Perfectdisk. I do computer work and see this "supermaxultracomputerfix2032" crap on clients' computer all too often. Ccleaner : It's a great free program that you use to clean out temp files and it can do some registry repair. I recommend using it to clean house after each web session. http://www.piriform.com/ccleanerTuneup Utilities 2012 : Another great program that has many features like registry repair/defragmentation and many other tweaks. http://www.tune-up.com/Raxco Perfectdisk: The best defragmenter out there in my opinion. Not only is it better than the junk that comes pre-packaged with Windows but it also actively prevents file fragmentation. http://www.raxco.com/home/home-professional.aspxHope that helps!

Thanks to those who replied to my question about MaxMySpeed.
I too have used CCleaner for a number of years but, I must admit, just the cleaner function. I opened the registry part and it finds many problems it wants to correct. Quite honestly, I don't know what to do.
I wonder if someone on the forum with more computer knowledge than I have would explain the function of the registry and if I'm likely to mess things up by allowing CCleaner to do it thing with the registry.
Thank you for your help.
Joseph

Let me also add my vote for Advanced System Care 5. Years before ASC5 I used V Com's "Fix It Utilities" until they were bought out by Avanquist. The only downside to Advanced System Care 5 is that it's "nagware" - they will keep asking you to upgrade and pay for their premium package but there's no need for that; ASC5 does a great job in the free version.

Not a problem with 360amigo, has a small box over in the corner for upgrading to the pay version but no nagware... I like it better than anything free I tried, made a big difference in system speed when I first installed and I usually run it every week or two... Tom

This site is temp. down but when it comes back up you can test your speed then they give you things you can do to make it quicker. Go to "tools" Ive used them for years now and never had a problem. You do the speed test, fix what they recomend (they give you everything u need to do that) then re-test you should see a big difference. Like I said I have used them for years and am very happy with how things turn out. Joe http://www.dslreports.com/
