I forgot I saw Doc Severinson back around 1975 with the Tonight Show Band. Great stuff. I do wish I could have seen bands like Goodman, Miller, Shaw, Dorseys, and all those great bands. Oh, and REO Speedwagon when they opened for Joe Walsh. They had to use a lot of Joe's equipment as their truck had gotten broken into...I remember them saying they lost their synthesizer, so "Ridin' The Storm Out" sounded odd without that intro.

I forgot one.

Grandpa Jones. He 'opened' for George Wallace at a campaign stop in Lansing, MI about a week before Wallace got shot. Those were interesting times.

Far too many to list, or even remember, though a few that come to mind include:

Yes
Rush
Saxon
Hawkwind
Motorhead
Marillion
Fish
Judas Priest
Texas
Bill Bruford (doing jazz)
The Rolling Stones
Led Zepplin - ish - it was just Robert Plant and Jimmy Page
Roy Harper
Magnum
Hayseed Dixie

but there's, literally, hundreds more - I worked rigging lamps in college and also at an annual rock festival, so they all kind of blur...

The farthest I ever traveled for a gig was when I flew from London to Berlin to see Tom Waits (as opposed to the farthest I ever traveled for a football match, which was London to Washington DC, to see the US play in the World Cup qualifiers, a couple of cups ago).

The Allman Brothers Band

Chuck Berry

Beach Boys several times

Steely Dan
Peter Seeger and Arlo Guthrie
The Flaming Embers (friends of a coworker)
The Drifters
The Marvelettes
Spyder Turner
Vernon Harrison (Boogie Woogie Red) when he was the house artist at The Blind Pig in Ann Arbor

And probably several I have forgotten

Joe - were any of these shows at the Grande?

My brothers were regulars! Oldest brother claims to have taken a pee, next to Jimmy Page!

No, none of those were. Hey, your brothers know what North Farmington High letterman had his picture on the jacket of "Kick Out The Jams"? Look at one if you can find the album. I only have this on CD now, my copy was borrowed many years ago and never returned. The non redubbed version of course.......

And remember what I said about others that I had forgotten? Old age rears it's ugly gray and balding head........

Dr. John
Johnny Winter
The Blues Project
Sly & the Family Stone
The Band
Chuck Berry
SRC
Alice Cooper (a last minute substitution few people had heard of in 1969)
- all of the above in one weekend in a sports stadium in Toronto: June 1969
-DS

Also: Bo Diddly unexpectedly at a free concert at a Saratoga Ca outdoor shopping center circa 1985 across the street from my apartment - I walked across the street to see who was making "all that noise."
Hot Club of Cowtown - several times in the last decade. (This band is always best when seen live.)
Frank Zappa (at the Boston Tea Party circa 1970)
Rambling Jack Eliot (at the Boston Tea Party circa 1970)
MC-5 playing at frat lawn parties circa 1965-66 in Ann Arbor
The Jim Kweskin Jug Band (Ann Arbor, circa 1966 w/Geof & Maria Muldaur)
Mose Allison w/ Bonnie Rait, East Lansing, circa 1975 (Hi there Julie T. :) )
Lothar and the Hand People (Family Dog, Denver, circa 1968)

And two I forgot, both painfully too loud:
Bob Dylan, 1986
Miles Davis, 1973

Joe, my oldest brother is not aware of NFHS "jock" on album cover.

At the Grande he recalls seeing: Led Zeppelin. Jefferson Airplane, Country Joe and the Fish, MC5, The Byrds, Jeff Beck and Paul Butterfield!

Sorry to highjack the thread!

I wish I'd seen Paul Butterfield. A really good band!

I'm usually too cheap to pay to see anybody. Got free tickets to a beachfront performance by the Beach Boys and Donavan. They were set up near the boardwalk facing the ocean, our seats were in the water!

Saw Danny & the Juniors at a Lions Club convention one year.

I watched Milli Vanilli from the top of the ferris wheel at the Delaware State Fair, does that count?

I've seen references to Bob Dylan twice in this thread, and that is one concert I would love to see. My daughter went to a few and also his son's with the "Wall Flowers." Guess genius is in the genes.
