Maybe if Craftsman made something like this I could get more excited about them.

I got a used JD 212, 12.5hp today for $450. Seems to work fine. No bagger and three blades.

That's great to hear. Just today I was using my 214 which has been relegated to brush-hog duty maintaining a 1/4 mile access road and yard at an FM transmitter site near my house. The thing about these older machines with the Kohler engines is that they will run forever as long as you check the oil each time before mowing.

Are you still going to get the Huskee serviced?

Yes, the Huskee is being fixed and then sold. The 212 has three blades and cuts
wonderfully smooth and even. Thanks.

It was my used 212 that made me a John Deere fan.

So far I have mowed about 1 acre. This mower is ten times the Huskee. Turns sharply and the 3 blades make a very smooth looking lawn. It is great. JD 212.

That Gravely is a nice machine but way out of my price range.
For weekend lawn mowing I've had a good experience with the John Deere 170 that came with the house.
Easy to work on if necessary but I haven't had to do much.
The gear selector keys wore out inside the transaxle and needed to be replaced. That was a messy but fun repair.
They all apparently develop this problem over time.

The repairman near me said the Huskee will be like new. He takes his time but does it right.
