Hi Rich,
Good to see that you are finally getting settled into a place. It won't be long before you are back to working on your sets.
Take care :)

I'm on the Olympic Peninsula, whcih is actually a lot closer than Tennesse. I have a place in Colville still with a couple -or more- radios in storage. If you ever drive to Spokane, you should stop at Barman's in Colville, I donated three or four radios to the owner's pet (dogs and cats) charity.

In the meantime, enjoy the heat - Omak is HOT in the summer and COLD in the winter - but you knew that. Also, if you have a chance, spend a weekend at Lost Lake up in the Okanagan highlands to the east of you. Very pretty, and one of the few places in the US West that has a loon population. Makes me sad now that we are not there.

Good luck.

John

Well, if you are looking for places to hike, you can't do any better than Sherman Pass, east of you about an hour's drive. Take the Sherman summit loop trail about 6 miles long. Incredible views, up about 6,000 feet (starts at 5,500). Or, a day hike up to Sherman summit, a scramble over the rocks but you can see forever. Also Snow Peak, also a easy day hike from Sherman pass. - sigh - Oh well, here on the west side I can go hiking on the ocean and pick up tsunami debris.

It's one of my favorite areas of Washington state -- north central Washington and the Boundary country, especially around Lake Roosevelt and the San Poil.
