Quote: NAPA does have Echlin. If you need a relay, switch, coil, ignition components, turn signal switch, etc. you can get the cheap, or you can get Echlin. I can't say that all Echlin is made in the USA, but over the years Echlin has shown me that I can count on a quality part. Naturally, you pay more. So most people just get the "same part" in a plain white box. Mark D. You have been lucky, then. While working at the body shop, I've put on plenty of their Echlin parts that were junk out of the box. Some on my own cars. I used to get mad at the boss for buying Napa crap when there was a local parts chain that had better parts, usually at better prices, and they delivered faster to boot. He must have gotten a big discount or some kind of kickback from buying their junk.

Well, everyone has their own experiences, I guess. I agree about the boss buying the cheapest stuff. Many shops do that, the owner is usually not very mechanically oriented, and is more interested in the short term dollard and cents. He usually doesn't realize that he's shooting himself in the foot by using crap. I will admit to not having used Echlin stuff for a few years, and their quality might have slipped. I have always seen better quality from them, than from any other aftermarket source. For instance, never had an Echlin ignition module fail, at least that I knew of. Echlin, by the way, is not the cheap stuff. You pay extra for that. The cheap stuff comes in a plain white box, and could be from anywhere.

They may look good, or better, or beefier, but in the end, I discovered that even Lucas was better quality, if you can imagine that... This was one of the first times in my life that I learned looks is not everything. As they say, "The Devil's in the details". Garret

Rockauto's website looks interesting. I notice a selection from OEM to many other sources.
