They have blue seals and the last series of them was 1953C, which were printed in early 1963. This is a "Red Seal" United States note. Looks just like this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:US_$5_1963_USN.jpg. I believe these were printed up through about 1965, when Dillon was replaced by Fowler as Secretary of the Treasury. The Series 1963 was the last of the $5 United States notes. After that, it was only Federal Reserve notes. The Red Seal $2 bills continued production up through around 1970.

Found another pair of AR3's. I really don't like the sound of AR's but I think they really like me...so far this is my 3rd pair in 3 months. Of course these are AR3a's.

August has been a busy month. Three auctions and a private sale. The first auction netted a NRS Professional Signal Generator and a heavy duty variac. The second auction netted more, most of which I don't need, as my interest is in 1920's stuff. The auctioneer knows how to work me though. Transformers. Meters, the Simpson has a very heavy leather case. Very large GE clamp meter, 750 amps and 750 volts. If it does not work it could be a great weapon. A UE 468 tube and socket. The private sale found a Gold Medal Phonograph. It works but needs cabinet repair and motor and spring cleaning and lubrication. It was a must have, Gold Medal was in Uxbridge Ontario. I have a 20's Quadrodyne table top radio from them and Beauclaire console cabinet that I have another Quadrodyne chassis for. The Beauclaire is a large horizontal phonograph type cabinet but altered to hold a radio only. Finally my auctioneer friend called last night to say that he had a desk for sale at today's auction then realized it was a Baldwin horn Speaker. That I had to get. The cabinet work is by SMS Radio Cabinets, Strathroy Furniture Co., Ltd., Strathroy, Ontario. The horn, Finally the Baldwin International Radio of Canada, Toronto, Ontario label. Ed.

I finally found some tubes at the Flea which were not all TV tubes. Maybe I paid a bit too much but I was caught up in the moment, $30 for them all,

Looks like you did well on those tubes. Hopefully they test good! Most of those in the second picture are quite useful in 30's and 40's radios. There's quite a few output tubes in there (the 41's and 42's)!

Picked up this little Zenith for $12.96 at an antique shop 5 minutes down the road. I was surprised to see a reasonable number on the price tag! Cleaned it up with some Novus and Noxon for the center part. Not too shabby. All original Zenith tubes and caps (untouched). I'm bracing myself for the silver mica disease, but I have to learn sometime!

Missing it's strap handle, still, I couldn't say no for $12. It only required cleaning of the battery box contacts to get it working perfectly. Looks pretty unmolested, otherwise. Bruce Webster

I just returned from the giant outdoor fleamarket fest and antiques show at Bouckville, NY with a Silvertone 8-transistor Medalist, RCA and Merc-Radio 6-transistor pocket sets, and the famous GE J-100 replica (had to have it, price was right). Slim pickins as far as tube radios go at the event this year. Mostly broken overpriced wood and bakelite table sets. This venue has been filled with good radios in the past. Attachment:

I will use mine mainly for FM since it can receive my local low-power NPR station and my "part 15" FM station quite well. Dave
