Of all my friends one happens to post some stuff that's downright vulgar and crude. I don't know if his stuff shows up on my other friends facebook who wouldn't be one of his also. If it does is there a way to block some of his stuff like pictures but not all. I really don't want to un-select him if I don't have to. Ed

Here's a picture that may help. On your Facebook newsfeed page (page you see when you first log in). You'll see the images your friend posted that you want to unsubscribe from. You'll see a little down arrow near the post. Click that. Click the option that works best for you. In this case, unsubscribe from photos by ________ . You'll no longer see photos from this person, but everything else he posts. You don't have to select this option for all the pictures, just do it once, and refresh the page, and you'll no longer see them.
Hope that helps.

That is the more specific option, but, if you don't want to take any chances...

If he shares his pics/videos with just friends, you will only see it, but if he shares with friends of friends, anyone who views your profile/timeline will see it, and if he share it with public, anyone who has a fb and stubles upon his profile/timeline will be able to see it.

Distant friends/family? What does facebook do that email doesn't? They datamine you and sell it to marketers. That is their primary function. I don't understand why anyone but 12yo girls uses facebook.

Email is a slowly fading fad.. just as writing letters is.. there are alot of people that have email accounts that they never log into bc its either just for notifications or bc they get too much spam/crap in there email, and its easier to just talk to someone via FB,Skype or IM bc you dont have spam to deal with there.. plus, if you wanted to share pictures its not practical to upload more then 4-5 pics per email, sometimes not even that many, especially if they are large files, you will exceed the attachment limit pretty fast.. On FB you can have i want to say atleast 100 pics per album..(somewhere in that range) FB used to be all about finding friends/family you lost contact with and sharing pictures... but now its all about games and businesses promoting themselves and there products services...

I can't tell you how much trouble and unnecessary drama has been started in the lives of family, friends, and co-workers because of FB.

You can set it up so that yo uare the only one seeing messages to you, and your friends will not see it. I had a co-worker from years ago contact me, I added him to the list. Then, all I got from him was stupid stuff and reposted crap. "Let not my heart be troubled", as they say, I simply deleted him from my list, blocked him. Even if I wanted to, I could not find him anymore. Unless I unblock him. It's so simple when you read into all your options. http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/41907318/ ... -settings/

That's the beauty about the web. Its in a constant state of evolution. If FB doesn't mind its P's & Q's, then it, too, will become AOL or Myspace. Yeah, they're still here, but at a tiny fraction of their original influence. There are other ways to do what FB originally did.

And none of them are under the age of 35. It just seems that if I want to stay in contact with friends or family, I have to either use FB, or resort to playing phone tag, or texting back and forth -- and of those three options, FB is the least irritating.

I use FB for one thing...Scrabble (lifelong addict). Once your name goes up people can find you and they do. Your list of friends increases and...I'll make it short...two acquaintences that should never have made contact were "introduced" to each other via FB in the form of a "friend suggestion". There may be legal consequences because there are previous legal issues between the two and some heavy fear on the feminine side. The harm done to a possibly-salvagable situation is now unrepairable. Pretty complicated but without FB the mess would be non-existant. I've whittled my friends down to a bare minimum and it will go lower. I truly believe they would connect Josef Mengele's relatives to the Wiesenthal clan.
There are other issues with FB. Several acquaintences are dropping it totally. (some already have). Too invasive...unless you play Scrabble only. Any players? Norm
