Hi Curtis,
I was also confused about whether I transposed the numbers, although I admit to bouts with dyslexia.. May have mixed up the freq/ event order some. According to Wikipedia;

nt that the radio operators on the Itasca realized that their RDF system could not tune in the aircraft's 3015 kHz frequency; radioman Leo Bellarts later commented that he "was sitting there sweating blood because I couldn't do a darn thing about it."

The voice freq was evidently 3105 khz,

"In her last known transmission at 8:43 am Earhart broadcast "We are on the line 157 337. We will repeat this message. We will repeat this on 6210 kilocycles. Wait." However, a few moments later she was back on the same frequency (3105 kHz) with a transmission which was logged as a "questionable"

The audio was a little weak to add to the fun.The really good ones only come out around holidays
Thanks , you got it!

My short wave listening took a turn for the better tonight.

I'm not sure whether this is a better isolation system for my antenna-mounted
preamp (which happened last month), a new position and ground for the antenn itself,
or the death of our local noise generator. I have noticed occasional
second-long noise generator failures in the past few months.

In any case, the impulse noise was gone below 1.9 MHZ and vastly
reduced above that.

As a result I was able to receive 12 (!) low frequency beacons
with logged IDs, as well as WWVH with the 25 foot antenna (it is
normally heard only with a loop.) I was able to hear WWVH on 5, 10, and 15 MHa.

Numerous shortwave stations that previously only been carriers were
perfectly listenable,
Large numbers of stations on 11 and 10 meters were logged.

A baby monitor at about 49.5 MHz was logged. The baby was babbling.

All these were heard on my Airspy SDR with its homemade high
rejection prefilters and "HackItUp" upconvertor , and the ones in
range were also heard on my R-390A.

Have fun with the SDR and hope they don't fix the noise generator!
I have noticed there may be nulls in the yard from some types of QRM.

It turns out there were two noise generators. The 2-15 MHz one is still
dead, but the 100 kHz - 3 MHz one was intermittent last night.

Do you have any sodium vapor street lights nearby? They give the 1 second qrm when they are going out. I don't call the city when they go , but eventually a neighbor will. All is quiet here now except for the constant nighttime lightening this year.

IPropagation seems to be unpredictable over the last few weeks. Good and bad within a few hrs

7/21/16. WWV 25 mhz open past 300utc good signal
WWVH heard on 10 mhz

7/22/16 400 utc
WWVH on 10 mhz heard , audio nearly as good as WWV
15 mhz weak , 20 mhz no signal

I've picked up several SW stations (foreign) on my Lafayette KT-320. The usual; Romania, Cuba, and like that. They are easy to find. The most exotic station I've tuned in to recently is "Voice of Vietnam" at around 12mH or so. They have an English BC several times a day. The best is at night around nine o'clock (CST) in winter here in the good ol' USA. Years ago, before the NET, I used to be able to pick up a lot more, but they have gone away one station at a time. There are still countries broadcasting on SW but not like it was in thirty years ago.

Radio Australia SW service has been off the air for the last week or so. Hope that it's just a temporary hiatus. I had got into the habit of listening in most mornings so I find that I miss it

Yes - it is also back at 9580 - nice clear signal here - they posted an update to the web page saying that it would return today.

It tickles me that this service is aimed at Fiji and Vanuatu but comes in almost like a local station here some mornings, so far away. I will have to try 17840 to see how that compares.

1370 WQLL Baltimore's greatest hits is on a saltwater path to my antenna and nighttime S9+20 is not unusual ..at times WTAB overrides it.

I have logged this station leaving the light on before.
Fine with me 8)

I recapped the power supply of my Scott Sixteen; haven't done anything to the receiver yet and it does need some work.

Nonetheless, I attached 20 ft of wire as an antenna, and I was digging around on SW. Found a talk show on the 19m band, hard to copy, but I could get some of it. Listened for a couple minutes just before 5z, then at 5 they announced they were switching to a frequency on 25m, join them there. As they logged off, they identified as being in New Zealand. Pretty cool for a 1937 radio that's half-working. I couldn't follow to 25m because the tuning sticks before that. :(
