Git is a term of insult with origins in British English denoting an unpleasant, silly, incompetent, stupid, annoying, senile, elderly or childish person.

Hey, I resemble those remarks. :)

Thanks everyone for your recommendations. Seems there's a few that I haven't tried. Traditional smoke shops have all but disappeared in my area; the ones that are left think $10 sticks are "middle-of-the-road"; their "good" ones are about $20 or so. Way too expensive for me. But there apparently are enough people that buy them - the stores are in high-rent retail areas in affluent suburbs, and seem to be doing OK.

As to the comments regarding health issues, I respect your opinions and empathize with your experiences. However, I think that some of the illness attributed to tobacco use is based upon outcome-based "research". In Ohio, death certificates have a question box on the bottom left side of the document, asking the certifying physician if tobacco use contributed to the cause of death. More than one experienced RN from two different hospital systems have told me that if the deceased EVER used tobacco in his/her lifetime, the physician was required to unequivocally check the "yes" box. A cigar per week, or 2 packs of cigarettes a day for 40 years, it makes no difference. Hardly scientific data in my opinion. But please understand that I'm not saying tobacco use is GOOD for anyone; moderation in all things is the key.

For a while I would a smoke a couple of "Puck" cigars ($5 about 15 years ago)
during the Holidays only. During a medical exam, the Doc asked if I smoked
and I related the foregoing info. He replied: "You don't smoke." as he checked a box.

In 2003 I got pneumonia (unrelated) after a trip to Seattle's Fish Market. I was
hospitalized for 5 days, and as is the fashion, the Staff had me walking the halls for
some activity. I happened to gaze into a "Pulmonary Unit"... OMG!
IF THAT Scene doesn't affect you, somethings wrong...I quit smoking.

Would that be GENT.

Perhaps he meant "git".

"Stupid git" used in the Argument Clinic - Monty Python.
Nope.

"Curse you, Walter Raleigh, for such a stupid get."
It's a British term, don't question it.

I never bought a Beatles album, but know the words to most. I listened to AM Radio every day for years.

Personally, I like Torano Exodus 1959. Tasty treat for when mowing the lawn. Not too expensive, but I dig 'em.

I recently bought a bundle of #59 throw outs from CI. About $27 shipped, IIRC. Nice smoke.
