Can someone explain this one to me?

I need to renew my passport and need a two-inch square color photo for the application. The website for the main post office in my area says they have passport services, including photos. When I called to check on this I was told that yes, they do take the photos but only for new passports. They will not take photos for renewals. When I expressed some curiosity as to why it mattered the response was that that was just the way the service was set up.

I think your post office is confused.

We both had our passport photos taken free at AAA and did the same when our renewals came due, and they were the same size photos each time. If you still need photos I think Kinkos will take photos also for a small fee.

Walgreens will take them for a small fee also. And give you the flu shot and shingles vac. Mine were free.

Or try another post office. If the first one was confused, the second one will probably be confused in a different direction, but might be able to help you with your photo.

The person I spoke with on the first call was (is) a dimwit. I called back and they take photos for new and renewals.

No all post office take passport applications. Of the ones that do, the hours may be limited. Around here I don't know of any that take photos.

I wondered where he got off to. I know where the other two Wit brothers, Nit and Half, are, but I lost track of Dim. Thanks!

When I lived in Austin TX there was a sign behind the service counter in the post office branch in my neighborhood that read, "There's no reason for it. It's just our policy."
