I refer to facebook as "disgracebook".

Regardless of any security settings you have in place, the only safe thing is to assume that anything you type is being broadcast to the whole entire universe.

The only time I ever signed up for facebook, I used the name of a long deceased co-worker in another part of the country. The ONLY reason I did this was to gain access to a page I wanted to see that required a facebook user account to access. No way was I going to give them any of my real PI.

That was well over five years ago. I am still getting emails virtually every week stating that so-and-so wants to friend me on this account. The guy whose name I used has been dead for at least twenty years, so I am reasonably certain the friend requests are bogus.

My wife is a facebook fanatic. She is highly opinionated, so I am certain that it will bite her in the ass at some point.

I dropped FB back in 2012 when I got a virus from it or from a FB email. It hacked computer and my email account and send fake BS email to all of my address book.Took a few hours over the phone with my ISP to clean that up and get a new password. It was embarrassing emails too..The rest of the time was cleaning out the computer. The Combofix program did a great job cleaning it out. It was just two months after loosing my father .I did not need that crap at that time.It took a few days to get the computer and my email account back in order.I dont bother clicking any FB emails now.

I think I'm going through Facebook withdrawal, for some reason I've been locked
out again, but this time after 5 days it hasn't come back.
Last Friday morning when I tried to open my FB page I got a message saying
they wanted to varify who I was, they wanted to send me a code via text
message, which they did. I put in the code and it didn't do anything, after
trying it a couple time I clicked on the button to ask for another code, it
sent one as before and as before when I inserted it it didn't do anything.
Now after 5 days it won't send any more codes and now of the ones sent
do anything AND there's NO WAY to ask anyone with FB for help.
After lots and LOTS of searching I havn't found any way to contact them
at all. I've found lots of phone numbers that want you to let them get
into your computer so they can FIX the problem as you've been hacked...
I guess I'll just have to give up on FB, I don't really want to start over like
I did a couple months ago when this happened the first time.
I keep hoping it'll magically just come back...
Sorry to vent, but I miss my FB feeds.

Are you using a VPN (Virual Private Network) for security by any chance?

Larry
