For the second year, the MARC Winter VEE will SELL OUT on tables ! This year more than ever, we have 130 tables, which seems to be about all we can fit into the Costick Center. We had over 600 folks in the door last year, this year might be more, we'll see.

YES. This SAT Jan 27 2018 I will add that to the header...
Also moderate weather... high 48, (!!!) rain maybe no snow or ice so travel from afar is easy. Winter in Michigan doesnt get any better than this...

I just got back from setting up my tables at the winter MARC VEE and the rooms are set for 140 tables, and it will sell out tomorrow ! There are only 9 tables left and Rob Murrell who does the vendors says those will go for sure.
What a change from just 4 years ago where we only had about 65 tables sold ! The new branding and publicity WORKS !

Just got home from the show. It was obvious that it was a big success. I arrived about 9:30 and got one of the few parking spots remaining.

It was good to chat with several old friends there.

One suggestion I might make would be to widen the aisles between tables by a foot or so. There was some unused space in the adjacent room that could have handled more tables. It was kind of tough to navigate up and down the aisles without repeatedly bumping into folks or getting bumped into.

Other than that it was great......glad that I went. Thanks to M.A.R.C. for hosting this mid-winter show.

I agree, the aisles need to be widen and if you want to chat with someone do it outside, not standing in the aisle blocking peoples movements. Now, it was obviously a very well attended meet as parking was at a premium. I went looking for a few items and came up empty. Found out that the knob I need for my Bosch 440 is kind of a hard one to find. As Mark put it when I asked him "GOOD LUCK". Although he did say that Westinghouse used them so I have 2 different brands to look for.

Saw a wider variety of attendees this year-due I'm sure to the inclusion of later audio equipment and the records. There were many young folks that came for the vinyl, and stopped to look at the other offerings as well. Looks like the two rounds of silent auction were a big hit as well-auction tables started filling up before 8AM, and they were running out of table space for all the entries! Quite a few locals came in looking for buyers for radios they had at home-followed a fellow to his house and bought some nice battery sets.

Our ladies at the front table (THANKS to Angela, Nancy and Sally once again!) said we had another record breaker attendance... over 700 paid admissions in the door this year ! This year we saw a lot of new younger faces, so great news and our marketing is really working ! Pix will be posted after I find my camera and download some !

WOW! What a success! It was just packed with people!

Thanks to our leadership on the MARC board. I think the direction they have taken the show and all the promotion is really paying off! I sold a number of items in the silent auction and left happy.

Congrats you guys!

I think the weather played a big role with the turnout!

I agree, it was an unusually warm and clear day for January in Michigan. Many times in the past people have said they didn't go because of the weather being cold and icy roads. I remember one year we nearly turned around and went back home because the driving was so hazardous even on the main roads like Telegraph.

Here are some pix of the MARC Winter Vintage Electronics Expo.... How many ARF'ers were there ? Ring in if you were. I saw several, some of you might be in the pix here. One pix shows a lot of gear set up with no people, that was taken the night before as some larger vendors come in (me too) to set up early and avoid the crowd Sat morning. The pix with the signs on the wall is my set up of parts for sale, with my wife Leann in her typical blue hair who many of you know from the Charlotte NC and Kutztown shows. She knows knows a .047uf = a .05uf ! thanks to all who came and shopped my booth too !
The tall guy in the VEE t-shirt is Jeff Lilly, our "new" MARC President. He sold nearly everything you see on the shelves.
Jeff is only the 3rd MARC President, following John Reinicke and founder Jim Clark, each of them serving 15 yrs. I think that's one of our great assets is our long serving Presidents and Board members... experience counts for a lot and helps us make good decisions.

According to our latest count, apparently we had 807 folks in the door, this includes sellers. About 130 vendor tables sold, which was a near sell-out. One vendor did not show for some reason, which was why some tables were not occupied in the gym room, although the tables were paid for.

Before re-branding the show from an "Antique Radio" show to the "Vintage Electronics Expo" and upping our marketing, we had 380 in the door and about 60 vendor tables, in 2014.
MARC is offering the VEE logo and name to selected clubs across the country, contact me if you have a larger event that might qualify for this re-branding. One club doing it is the New England Antique Radio Club (NEARC) and their event is Sunday March 4 in Nashua, NH.

The Silent Auctions were VERY popular again this year. I sold some stuff in them. A great way for a casual seller to put just one or a few items up for sale and not have a table or booth. Some "walk-in" non-collectors sold stuff that way.

We also had a great "Bargain Auction" at the end of the event. Not as much stuff this year, however. Speculation was that vendors sold so much of their stuff that they didnt have as much to "dump" in that auction.
