WARCI Madison Chapter Swap Meet

WHEN: April 22, 2018 @ 8:00 am – 11:00 am
WHERE: 3610 Lexington Ave., Madison, WI 53714

http://warci.org/

General Meet Information
Street parking is available. There is no charge for admission!

The Gate opens for buyers and sellers at 8:00 AM. The swap will end by 11:00AM. This will be an outdoor meet with very limited indoor space.

As typical of most swap meets, the items are for sale by individual collectors, and most are one-of-a-kind. So for best selection (and the best deals), BE EARLY! But please stay around and get to meet some of the club members. These swap meets are a great way to connect with other local collectors that share your interests. By socializing at the meets you can find others that may have what you are looking for, radios & parts, people that can service your radios, and you can make some good friends.

Swap tables are $7 for WARCI members, and $10 for non-members. No advance registration required. WARCI does not provide tables, so it is recommended that you bring your own table or tarp.

Contact WARCI president Nicholas Tillich for more information at president@warci.org

For breakfast, WARCI recommends the Fair Oaks Diner, at 44 South Fair Oaks Avenue. To get to the diner from the meet, head West on Lexington Avenue until you reach Fair Oaks Avenue, then turn Left. The diner is 0.9mi down the road on the right.

Interested in joining our club? Here's a little more information to tell you what the club is all about:

The Wisconsin Antique Radio Club, Inc. exists to preserve the history and enhance the knowledge of radio, television, and other related disciplines, promote fellowship and the exchange of ideas and experience between antique radio collectors. We have a special interest in the history of radio in our home state of Wisconsin: Wisconsin radio companies and their radios, Wisconsin radio stations, etc. Our members' interests include radio (encompassing transmitters, earphones, speakers, antennas, tubes, batteries, components, etc as well as receivers), television, audio, and antique phonographs.

Individual memberships are $15 for the calendar year (January - December), including a subscription to the WARCI News.

WARCI holds five swap meets in the Milwaukee-area each year, in January, March or April, July, September and November. The seller's fee at Swap Meets is $7.00 for members, $10 for non-members. WARCI also joins the Ozaukee Radio Club in Cedarburg in May for their Spring Swapfest (times and fees vary). Additional swap meets in April and October are hosted by the Madison chapter of WARCI and follow the same schedule. Swap meet times are 8:00AM - 11:00AM. Doors open at 8:00AM for set-up. Check the WARCI website for the meet schedule.

WARCI publishes the WARCI News five times per year (January, March, May, July, and September) in PDF or hard copy. The newsletter reports on club activities, includes articles contributed by members (currently featuring a series of articles on Wisconsin radio companies), photos from club swap meets, news and events of neighboring clubs including ARCI, NARC, and MARC, and members' classified ads.

The club operates the WARCI website at http://www.warci.org. The website features information on club activities and a growing compilation of information about Wisconsin radio companies and their radios, including photographs and WARCI News articles about the companies. The intent is to gradually develop an overall history of radio in Wisconsin, its companies, broadcasting stations, etc. Back issues of the WARCI News and the Battery Set Compendium are also available for download from the website. WARCI is also on Facebook.

WARCI also takes special pride in promoting in the newsletter and the website Bob Paquette's world class Microphone Museum displaying Bob's magnificent collection. http://warci.org/bob-paquettes-microphone-museum/ .

You can join the club by picking up an application at any of our meets, or you can find the information on our club website. http://warci.org/join/

WARCI is proud to offer our members and guests the largest number of club events of any Midwest area antique radio club. This year we offer 8 swap events on our schedule. The remaining WARCI event calendar for 2018 is shown below. Print and post to your refrigerator!

I'm looking forward to attending the meet for the first time. My cousin has all of that vintage audio equipment in the one building on the property. It looks like it should be a great meet for vintage radio parts and obscure items. I'll be primarily looking for 1920s superhets, loop antennas, 1920s radio breadboard power supplies, and 1920s tubes and parts.

We'll be glad to have you there, Michael! And yes, that is a fantastic amount of stuff your cousin has in that building. You could spend half the morning inside, and still not see half of what is in there. Lots of sweet pickings.

Really nice weather, thought there would be more vendors but lots of people checking it out. Found an RCA tombstone.

Had a great meet. We also had some great publicity. There was a front page article in the Wisconsin State Journal yesterday featuring our swap meet. http://host.madison.com/wsj/news/local/ ... 1013b.html
