Why would you do that to yourself, Steve?

My 17 yo niece was over not long ago. I asked her what was that crap...

She enthusiastically said "it's the Biebs!"

I briefly considered turning the living room into a crime scene...but common sense prevailed and I pulled the cord out of the wall and told her to never ever play that around me again.

that is funny.

the reason i looked it up is that i was curious as to who or what sang such crap and broke me out of a dead sleep.

curiosity...it can be a bad thing...

So many awful songs, so little time. Has anyone on the previous 10 pages or so mentioned Sammy Davis Jr.'s "Candyman"? One of the most annoying songs ever! But then there is anything and everything by KC & the Sunshine Band to give it competition.

+1 Steve

I have a few of their LP's still, actually, that I got when I was also in that age time frame. I will take that over "the Biebs" or any of the current autotune garbage any day.

@ Dutch Rabbit!

The YT video in question above is produced by the dutch television company AVRO
from Hilversum made in the USA!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TopPop
They went to the states to produce it for the own television.
I remember it was new and shown on TopPop.(See letters in the video)
That was a dutch weekly chart show.
Here are some shots with intro:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSt04xDpzfk

I loved to watch music on television, in these mid 70s, my teen years, I repaired my
first TV set, a 1960 Nordmende console, with the treble on max and the bass button pushed!
Because the original speakers were missing I mounted a Telefunken 10" speaker
with 2 tweeters. :D
It was the time that I was dreaming of "something" like a VCR to playback these recordings
on all my vintage TVs.
An U-matic machine costed in this time a Mercedes, we had one but not enough money for
a VCR  , even not for the small Grundig and Philips VCR cassette sets.
It took only 20 years to make a VCR a museum piece.
Today I own this K.C.-recording from the french televison and can play it on the same
and other vintage TV sets.

SIXMILLION DOLLARMAN

heck, don`t wanna highjack this original theme..... 8)

Good gawd, I could not listen more than 45 seconds to that song. Still, I would take The Shaggs for hours on end rather than the "biebs", though at this juncture they both make me physically ill.

i heard Skynyrd's "Free Bird", a nine minute masterpiece of pure sour nasal whining that made me want to hurl a $30 steak dinner from the bottom of my gut.

add that horrible mess of a song to the list also.

...terrible song and 9 minutes worth.

I made the mistake recently of checking on the song about What does the Fox Say? I managed about 45 seconds and stopped the video. Seriously? That is THE stupidest song/video ever! IMNSHO, by the way. I think it's been around a while, but my daughter mentioned it to me...the last time I take her music selections seriously .

Written by a Norwegian comedy team it's meant to be 'stupid', a parody of the excesses and absurdities of contemporary club music.

Bard said, as to their intent: "As comedians, it wouldn't be a good thing if we went to pursue a hit in the States because they could potentially make something that became big, so we thought it would be more fun from a comedian perspective to come home to the talk show and say, 'Listen we had the chance, we could've made it big, but the only idea we got for the song was this old idea about what the fox says so we're sorry. We screwed up.' That was the plan... That would've been funny to say on the talk show."

Best laid plans of mice and men, it did become a hit.

Simon & Garfunkel - The Sounds of Silence - Its god awful...

Even a metal remake from that "Disturbed" guy sounds better....

(That's, actually decent, IMO)
