People never seen to understand the difference.

Heart FAILURE is where your heart is weakened and fluid builds up in your lungs. He probably died peacefully in his sleep because acute heart failure like that knocks you unconscious first from the hypoxia (low blood oxygen but not enough to turn you blue [cyanotic]). Then once you are out, you basically drown in your own fluids.

Both my grandfathers plus my one great-grandfather died that way. Only difference - they knew it was coming and what was going to happen and how it was going to play out.
