Oh my god.Sorry to hear this.I love Don Williams .A true country song writer and singer.I give him credit for starting to listen to country music back in the 1970's along with the late great Glen Campbell.Too bad for Troy Gentry .I like some of Montgomery Gentry tunes.Too bad he was too young to go.

Montgomery Gentry just performed here in my hometown the last week of July. So sad, such a tragic end. Added to the list of numerous other singers who were victims of plane crashes.

Troy and his pilot was flying in a Schweizer 269 Helicopter according to the news.On the otherhand I did not know Don Williams had any health issues of late.He did not make the cashier checkout fake news rag mags weeks or months before. Both were a shock tonight.Condolences and prayers go out to their families and friends.

I saw Don Williams in one of those "Cavalcade of Country" things with a handful of others - great singer. RIP Don....

I saw Montgomery Gentry in 2002 or so, opening for either the Dixie Chicks or Vince Gill. They were the real stars - and all over the arena with their show. RIP Troy, and peace and healing to Eddie and the band.

Record companies are already rushing to release previously unreleased tracks to cash in.

Don Williams has a couple dozen or so finished tracks that got left off of previous albums for one reason or the next - a handful with production lead vocals abd about half the backing tracks and another half-a-dozen or so with scratch vocal and scratch rhythm track that they could probably do something with.

With Troy Gentry they have two complete but unreleased albums from their heyday, programmed and everything and then a smattering of tracks in the above conditions.

Since they just re-signed to their original label and were getting ready to embark on a new direction in music, there's also a small handful of compositions that got charted (so the musicians know what they are going to be playing) and were in the early stages of being rehearsed - but that were never recorded as their first session for the new contract was to be later on this winter.

Perhaps we may hear them on a new upcoming Eddie Montgomery solo album, or perhaps we may hear them with guest vocalists standing in for Gentry like what happens once in awhile when an artist passes with incomplete material yet to be recorded.

Ditto on that.I'm not surprised. When Montgomery/Gentry came out.It was the start of me of loosing interest in country music because it was loosing the traditional sound and sounding more like rock and roll.MG were ok along with Brooks and Dunn,Garth Brooks and Shania Twain.More likely I rather hear the classic country tunes like Don Williams and others from that era.The record company probably put something together like a box set for the fans of MG .The same for Don Williams.Eddie now has to recover and put his life back together without his partner Troy.Maybe Eddie could team up with his brother John or later do something with Troy's kids if they get involve in music when they get older. In the meantime we will find out what were the mechanical problems the heli had before it went down.As I did some homework online on the heli they were using .The info looks pretty interesting and probably would not mind flying one.

Last night as was searching YT for Don Williams tunes to post here. I played some of MG tunes and cant recall hearing them before.I probably was referring to another band.Around that period of country music I was tuned out since it does not sound like country music to me.More like rock and roll .Country music started to go into the crapper in the mid 1990's like everything else did.Anyway It was said to hear the loss of the young man .Too young to be gone.
