Ok, sorry! But I don't know where to start, and youse guys probably know where to point me.
My computer monitor is intermittently losing one color (red). I know someone's gonna tell me monitors are cheap, but I'm on a pretty strict budget (can't let my radio/reel to reel money get squandered!)
------------------
Keith
Since it's intermittent, check cable connections, tap on monitor board and CRT.
There is separate circuity for each of 3 colors. You could have a bad connection or problem in the CRT.
------------------
Norm

Keith
I have found that the cable on the monitor breaks right at the molded plug on the cable. The cable is normally bent and a wire breaks. I have fixed 3 just like that.
Tom

------------------
And unless you've swapped things out with another monitor and cable and know that the problem is external, don't rule out the mother board or an intermittent/broken connection at the computer's monitor jack.
Dean

------------------
Check for cold or ring cracked connections on the CRT module. Examine the connections on the Red output transistor and the Where the CRT socket is soldered to the CRT module.Trace the RGB back to the main chassis and check those connections also. It is possible that you may also have an intermittent Red output or CRT.

------------------
