My recent find is a Stromberg-Carlson TC-10 set with the matching stand. What makes this a real find is that it is still in the box, never sold. All the original packing material and paperwork is included. If you are interested in seeing a "new" 50 year old set, I posted a few pictures on my web site (the gallery here isn't accepting uploads today.
The TC-10 page is at: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/c1827/page88.html
Of course I tried to bring it up, after slowly bringing up the AC I was able to get good audio and a faint light on the screen. Checking the HV, it's only 2KV. Another project...
Chuck

------------------
Wow indeed! Where did you find it? Where did it spend the last 50 years? Enquiring minds want to know! I'm impressed and curious. Andrew
------------------
The first 35 years it was in the original TV dealers shop in Stroudsburg PA, the last 15 years it was buried in a private collection. Sorry to say there were no more new ones.
Chuck

Wow, that made my jaw drop!!
It's amazing to see an old set in virtually new condition like that.
Hard to believe a set made during the golden age, when TV was still new and expensive, could go unsold.
Perhaps it didn't work when new and just never got fixed?
Eric
------------------
Chuck,
Incredible find. A rare beauty. That zinc plated chassis looks so new. Lovely!
If it doesn't work it should still be under warranty. Check for the warranty card in the box.
Rob
------------------
There are 4 brands of tubes, Cunningham,Ken-Rad, Raytheon, & Sylvania. The CRT is a Rauland. I was able to get it working last night, had 1 blown cap in HV supply and 4 bad ones in the vertical section. 90% of the caps are 'black beauties" so I don't think I'll be running this set to often. I posted a few additional pictures at the site listed in message one.
Does anyone know how the "Opera Glass" display was originally set up? In the normal mode was the display cropped or full screen? Or was it normally full screen and then the center expanded when the "Opera Glass" was enabled?
Chuck
