Dr. Radio, you might also want to consider Dumont; they were an upper-line manufacturer, and made some nice TV sets in the 1946-52 era. One of my relatives used a RA-103D table model into the early 1960s.

I like Predictas.
I can usually get to all the caps with my thin pencil iron and removing the corner grounds and
carefully bending the board.

I have a spare "Butler" the Tandom model.

Let me put it this way. When I ran a large TV shop in the '60's we loved two things. Lightning storms and Philco; not necessarily connected.

Predictas are like beautiful women,they cost more and require a higher level of maintenance. :D
The continental model is by far the most beautiful of the line.
There is a company called Telstar that makes repro color predictas which looks very,very nice,they even have a version of the continental! the average person wouldnt tell its a new set at a glance,and you can watch it as a daily set without the hassles.
