helical scan video tape v-30p question .
any one know where or how to play this on a VCR or another machine to see what is on it if anything reason is it may have been a NASA TAPE 1960'S I HAVE 4 TAPES and would love to know whats on them
side note the moon landing tapes are missing too .

Need to ascertain what format it is. Might be Ampex A, in use since mid/late 60s. Might be custom to NASA in which case nothing will play it but a NASA player. But with TV resolution what it was then, there would be little reason to reinvent the wheel and Ampex A is little different from SMPTE C, "the" 1" broadcast format.

Hi,
That tape number sounds like something form a 1/2" EIAJ or similar video recorder More Likely CV-2000 format. What is the width of the tape.
Yes the original SLOW SCAN tapes are gone, more then likely they where erased, as all that material went by the truckload to the national archives. The only possibility of ANY video recording at the receiving sights was done on an Ampex 2" VR-600 or similar VTR.
