Nice addition... and it is quite rare and very heavy, trust me. Keep us updated on the restoration.

Good luck with this one. I once had one of these but downsized over the years. Keep a lookout for a radio/phono version of this as spares for your radio. The rest it would seem you have some experience on.....keep us posted. CRAIG

The more I look at this the more it looks like a jukebox. I think it needs some neon bubble lighting Steve

It has what you could call a "commanding presence." Something that size will display best in a large space, with elbow room on both sides. Easier said than done, I know I dig those tambour doors! Phil Nelson

If you change your mind maybe Bob Andersen would buy it off you, if he could find the space. Regards Arran

I'll have mixed feelings when you come to pick this up, Steve. As I mentioned to you, we towed this on a dolly from a friend's house to mine in about 1983 or so, and it's moved around with me ever since. As I Chuck alluded to, it does have a sort of special lighting effect on it - behind the right side door, there's a clear plastic rod that is lit from the bottom and illuminated the controls.

Sounds like an early attempt at fiber optics light transmission. I am really interested in the radio, love the push button presets. Keith, I too feel a bit uncomfortable taking something away that's been yours for so long! Rest easy knowing it will be going to a good home.

I'm glad Steve is getting it, and if he feels the need for another projection set, here's one in San Diego http://www.videokarma.org/showthread.php?t=251756

I've got work out in Detroit this week so I will be able to pick up the 648PTK this week! I'll post pictures mid-week of the pick-up from Keith's house. I'll also be picking up a Philco Safari in Syracuse on the way.

Packed up and ready to go to it's new home in Massachusetts, it fits! The optical drum is on a tipped stand! The optical path has a different geometry then the 8PCS4 unit. Picture tube An all brass channel selector not plastic.
