That Granada table top version is the set featured on the front of the SAMS service folder. It sure looks like they used a Halolight screen mask on these.

We don't even know if the CRT is any good, I'm not going a penny more than $500 without breaking out the tester. You're pretty far from this set, perhaps you'd like to wait until I head over there to find out if the CRT is any good? I'd hate to see someone spend that much on a set, only to have to go back out and spend another $400 on a 21AXP22 for it. If I can get the address from the seller, I will likely make a trip up there this weekend to at least test the picture tube and take some better photos. I'd love to save this one, but if the tube ends up being bad I don't think I can justify more than 3 or 4 hundred dollars.

I look forward to seeing more pictures of this rare set. This is IMHO one of the most unusually styled early color sets....in a good way. It is surprising what can show up on CL sometimes. Tom C.

Whoever buys it needs to offer a finders fee to brainfade or a least take him out to lunch. Can't wait to see the progress of this story.

As the originator of this thread I FORBID!! Any more nasty comments here because I don’t want to see this get locked. I for one would like to hear the progress report for this set as I feel a kinship to it. I could have bought it myself and gutted it to turn it into a fishtank/liquor cabinet/record cabinet/clothes hamper/and drilled a hole in the side for the mice to live in it AND my wife has a leaky potted plant that she could have on top so she didn’t ruin the good furniture. So I’d be curious to hear the progress and reports of this set. Was the CRT good and can the set be saved? When I first saw this it looked like any old 50s TV but seeing that it was advertised as the first color from Sylvania I thought it might be some of interest to somebody. Knowing then what I know now I would have owned it, but at least I feel as though its gone to a good home and can hopefully saved. Once again, please start a new thread for any discussion of the TV museum and the differences of opinion concerning that and keep this thread focused on the Sylvania TV.

I think if you want more info, you are going to have to follow the thread on VK. In all honesty, I don't blame them at all. BTW the CRT IS good.

For those of you that don't follow VK, miniman82 has had this set up and running after a recap and a few other adjustments. The CRT turned out to be very good.

Just follow the link that miniman posted above, he's hosting the pictures on his own server so you shouldn't need to sign up to see the pictures.

A word on the Victoreen Corotron regulators - there was a guy (Syd Levine) who had actually developed a solid-state replacement for this unobtainium part - he called it the Codatron. Unfortunately, he passed away not that long ago, but someone else has agreed to keep the site ( www.logwell.com) up and running.
