A friend bought a Zenith Concierge cheap. Motel TV buyout. TV works fine, got color setup via on-screen menu and all seems normal. When a DVD player is plugged into the RCA video input jacks, front or rear, it only plays in black and white picture. Audio is fine. DVD player into another TV works normal.
Not exactly an antique TV, but not new for sure.
Anybody can give me a clue as to the problem? I quit TV repair way back before DVDs.
Would a motel TV possibly have the video input disabled or modified to prevent or discourage guest from plugging in their own player?
Doesn't seem to be any menu item associated with the video input.
Thanks,
Coop

I would look for the first IC after the video input jacks. It may derive chrominance and luminance from the composite video; look for bad connections on the pins of the IC. You may even have bad electrolytics around that IC.
