I just let a Meck 7" tv follow me home. It's in a mahoganny case. It's an ac-dc set... It has been worked on, and, plays, but, needs more work. I'll eventually finnish doing that. If interested, I'll post pictures... I have a better 7JP4 for it, though the one that's in it isn't that bad. Fine tunning is still off, and, knobs are sticking. I also want to tighten up the metal grill in front. Actually, it's kind of a cute set. Anyone got a photo of original back cover? Not sure if mine is original, or, not... Original finnish is fairly decent. I will polish brass... edited by poster to give more information on set. Bill Cahill

You won't find the next one tomorrow, at least not in your area. While not rare, Meck sets are not as common as some of the other brands because there were not as many made and they were not as widely distributed.

Thanks, Dennis. It sure is a cheapy. I can easily see why it didn't sell well. Nice case, cheap set. Mahoganny done in brown mahoganny. Knobs sure are tiny little things. I can barely grab the channel selector. The selector has a stop at each end. Not a constant rotation. I don't think it covers all twelve channels, either. Back looks like industrial strienghth decorative grill sieh a ridgid support on bottom edge. Hmm. Maybe it is original.... He hadn't had it on much in the last ten years, and, plugged it in. It took time for some filters to come to life. Started with a horizontal white line, and, improved from there. Contrast is weak. How much hv does it put out through that hv oscilator circuit? Can't be alot.... I'm glad we took a bunch of my 7JP4 tubes with us. Found out that some were good, somefair, and, a few dead. I think I have enouph usable ones for 4 sets, so, they will be two Motorola, this set, and, a portable Emerson. Need antennas for both portables, though, plus back for portable Motorola. Hmmm. It will be interesting. I like that portable Emerson, though. Bill Cahill

Actually, yes. In dc, you have to reverse the plug, or, it won't work. Same with radios. Anything without a power transformer, and, is series string is ac dc. DC, or course, is now about un-heard of anymore... DC only wouldn't even use a rectifier at all.

Hi Bill post pictures of this set if you can. I have one and would like to see if my knobs are original.

The motorola 7" sets are AC only. They use a voltage doubler circuit which requires AC input. Many other sets work the same way. ======= Ron

I have the 7 inch Meck and a 7 inch Garod both use the same chassis. They almost look like a Teletone chassis but have more parts and a different tuner.
