I thought I had a good idea where to look to solve this problem but it is proving to be even more of a challenge - Started this set a while back - all caps changed, tubes good, resisters checked for values - all seems ok but I have a triple picture. The first 3 seconds after a the crt comes to life gives a resonable picture but then it falls apart..... sound is fine - Im thinking there must still be a resistor somewhere that is not cooperating, one that is really close to its needed value but off enough to cause a problem - checked over the sync section for these buggers - any ideas guys???? Thanks in advance

I would suggest double checking your work and look at the values of caps replaced in the horizontal section.

After that, look around the H hold coil for opens or other problems.

Have you tried adjusting the Horizontal frequency coil yet?
This is either B4 or B10 on the Sams depending on which circuit your set uses.

These often need retouched after a recap, also check the value of the Caps you used around this coil.

I'll check out B4 next I guess - mica caps have been checked and replaced as called for - I was very careful about capacitor values - Im very sure they're right - That couple of seconds of good play, then the picture going bad makes me wonder - that maybe something somewhere is going bad - Thanks for all the hints!!!!!!
