I want the Danish modern. But I'd take a Tandem if it came my way. Still have fun watching my Holiday though and I doubt the other two will ever cross my path.

The Continental is the most desirable Predicta model that is known as the "Danish-modern". They can go for $1500+ today in good condition. The Tandem is easiest chassis to work on for repairman and is pretty unique looking. I have a '59 17" "Debutante" and had a '58 21" "Holiday" years ago and although very cool to look at, they are finicky performers, especially with the audio. I would highly recommend getting any model though. They're a must for any TV collector!

After the Continental I think The Pedestal model (nicknamed the barber pole) is the most desirable of the 21" sets.

I picked this one up on eBay from a local, got it and a Holiday for $300.
It was in rough shape, CRT was bad, missing some knobs, the finish was shot and the screen cover was cracked but the cabinet itself was in great shape, I knew I'd never have a better shot at one local to me so I went for it.

I found a CRT on eBay, took the screen cover and knobs from a Holiday I already had, refinished the cabinet and restored the chassis, the total investment is still less than I could buy most unrestored examples for, and I have a Holiday left over. 8)

I have the pedestal model. I saved it from being turned into an art piece for $100. Mine just sits in the corner. People always gawk at it when they come to my house. Maybe someday I'll get to it.

Same with even the Holiday, when people walk into the room they go right over it and ask about it. With the pedestal I;m sure they go ape.

My Holiday plays pretty well. The audio was a pain to get going and then there is still a trade off between a stable picture and over modulation hum. Still, it sounds good and I just sent the original speaker to be re-coned. Folks love to watch it, we had friends over and watched Honey West and The Outer Limits.

Mercury, just keep your eye on CL and Epay and what not, they do show up.

If you can make it to Chicago, maybe we can work out a deal. I had three Tandems. All needed a lot of work - install new CRTs, replace damaged cables etc.

I already sold one, plan on selling another and will keep one.

I know this forum is about vintage TVs, but are you aware of these?

Not cheap though. If I understand it, this company purchased the rights to the Predicta name and the
cabinet styles.

Yeah, out of business, AFAIK. Their used sets show up on eBay once in a while, usually priced kinda high, reflecting what the original owner paid.

Mercury:

It would probably help in your quest if you shared where are you located and post a WTB (Want To Buy) ad in the classified section. Local pick-up is a lot less expensive and hassle than shipping.

$1,200. BTW not sure what you meant by they are inefficient in your first post ? Yeah, they used a CRT with a bad design and the power switches are flaky but otherwise, they are just a repackaging of the same chassis they had been using for several years in more conventional console sets.

That's nuttin' I have around 100 right now - many in storage. Just finished moving to a new house and am busy setting up a workshop. I'll be selling them as I restore them. I expect it will take many years to do them all.
