Are These sets hard to restore....I'm asking because mine will be coming to my house Saturday. I went to look at it today..It seems all there and it's got a motor-driven tuner. Did they come with remote or was this normal with these? What did I just talk myself into.....again! I'm hopelessly addicted now...no turning back!!!

Haven't worked on motos from that time, but based on their earlier 50's and mid 60's offerings it should be a well made set with a mature, non-overcomplicated circuit design capable of good quality, stable operation.

If you post model or chassis numbers I may have the Sam's or Beitman's for it.

Zenith invented the Space Command ultrasonic remote just a few years earlier, Motorola may have had their own remote offering by then, even if they did many makers (Including Zenith) offered motorized tuning without remote as an option so until you can check for a remote chassis/ultrasonic mike there is no telling what kind of tuning it has.

1958 is late in the transition period between wired and wireless remote controls. Remote controls were pretty uncommon -- an expensive option then. The motor driven tuner ( or other control) and associated circuitry were costly additions to production cost, so only higher end sets got them.
