While inspecting a group of 7 buildings bought by our client today, we found a Philco 51-T2138 TV left when the office area was abandoned by the seller many years ago. It appears to be in nice condition. RM shows that it has 23 tubes. What is the un-restored value? Is it worth my effort to take it to the SCARS auction on February 17? Are there any special concerns or issues with this model?

Probably worth more out there than around here.

It'd be a tough sell here at even $50 unless someone really wanted it badly.

There's always Craigslist if you don't want to haul it around.

I remember a friend taking some large console televisions like that: Admiral, RCA, etc., to the ETF auction 10 years ago. It was on behalf of a museum in Maryland. Sadly, they brought very little but it did clear storage space. You might test the picture tube if you have a tester...be careful with the doors as painted woodgrain was common then. I wouldn't mind fixing that at all. Craig

I bought one of those Maryland museum TVs from the ETF as it's CRT tested excellent, and was a donor for my DuMont RA306. If that Philco's CRT tests good it's a keeper.

You might sell it for 10 or 20 bucks if someone really wanted it. The reality is anything after the 1940s would be tough to get rid of, especially s console. Unless it was a Predicta or really early color set.
