Was it called in the ads "The Greatest Color Portable Ever Built"? Had the first 110 degree color tube if I remember right. I think the model name was "The Argosy". I do remember they weren't the most reliable color tv ever built! Had vertical sweep troubles right out of the box. And the handle would break while you were carrying it up the stairs and it would tumble down, usually unhurt! I'm curious if anybody has one in operating condition.

Yes, it was one of the worst of RCA's sets in those years. I would expect that due to the crappy CRT's they were all scrapped by the mid 1980's. Makes you wonder what they were thinking, since they had already proven the ability to build decent solid state sets with the CTC 40, and 48.

I loved that set! I had one from a customer that didn't want it repaired back in the early 80's. Went to work for RCA in 1983 and took it with me. Had it until 2009 when I moved to New Hampshire and just had too much stuff. Loved the bronze color chassis, 110 degree tube. Had some great literature on it, full color glossy books, huge wall size schematic. Do you still have one?? The only problem I saw with them was the input thermistor. I remember having a picture with a beautiful blond in a scant dress posing with the chassis. Those were the days!

I remember 4 distinct RCA modular 19 chassi but not the chassis #'s that far back except the CTC 38 consoles I did tons of being the jig man.
The '49 must have been the slim one w/SCR's. Saw a lot, SCR's, thermisters, hoz & vid out boards what I remember about them. A similar 17" also had vert board socket problems. 19" had a BIG silver rocker on/off SW.
Next was the boxy one with a normal hoz out stage. I liked this one best. Delta jug as I remember. Easy to deal with.
Then there was the wire wrapped POS beast with ITR's & a handle. May as well put a carrying handle on a GD Buick Roadmaster !! No need to go into the multitudes of problems.......
I think the last modular set was the one with SCR power supply & normal hoz out. Had hoz chassis instead of the previous vert ones. Delta jug I think ? Only saw a few of em.
