I picked this up today for $5 , i felt sorry for it.
As near as i can tell its mid 1970s, it should clean up nicely, one nice touch when you turn the dial, the tuning needle bends to the
left or right.
It work very well pulls in a lot of stations and the sound quality is quiet good, considering the speaker is firing out of the bottom.

Thankyou, well its 33 years old and everything still works, led display and even the tiny bulbs for the tuner backlight.
Its a nice clockradio has now got its place at the side of the bed, even the wife likes its style so for $5 its a winner.

I think they do and some of the prefixes overlap. You just have to guess the right decade. K-'63, L-'64, M-'65, N-'66, X-'67, Y-'68, Z-'69, A-'70, B-'71, C-'72, D-'73, E-'74, F-'75, G-'76, H-'77, J-'78, K-'79, L-'80, M-'81. They started using a letter prefix to designate the year in the early '50's; but, I'm not sure how the older prefixes line up to a year. I also know that Zenith would often use the same chassis design for several years. I have a "Z" line 23" B&W Zenith TV from '69; but, it uses a 14N22 chassis. The "N" in the chassis number indicates that this chassis was introduced in '66; but, my research tells me that this same chassis was used in Zenith TV's into the early '70's.

I think you are correct, i have a Zenith Allegro console, probably close to being Zeniths last stand at a console as they where losing popularity.
Anyway model number is LR919P1 so going by your info it was made in 1980 makes sense, has 8 track and a Zenith badged BSR belt drive turntable.
Its a lovely console in great condition, thanks for your valuable information.

I too have one of these that serves as my daily wake up call. I got mine at an estate sale for $1.00. Found it out in a back shed. Pretty dirty but it cleaned up nicely. All I had to do was clean the controls and solder in a new Ni Cad AA for the battery back up. Sound wise I think the highs are a wee bit muddy. The serial number on mine starts with a J so I guess that makes it a '78. I too thought it would be earlier but then again I've seen examples with the flip numbers. I would like to get one of those.

I just noticed that mine has a switch in the lower left corner for dimming the display that yours is missing. Also mine does not have a lighted tuner.
