I picked up a Sears Com Trek IX at flea market the other day for a few bucks, and am working on getting it aligned. Model 132.22850000, 9-bands and such. Does anyone have a copy of the users guide, which (I'm hoping) has the schematic? It has a ton of trimmers and slugs, and I've been able to figure out the AM broadcast trimmers, but don't want to mess up the rest. Thanks!

I wish I could be of help as I also have a Com Trek 9, but the only Sams I could get from the local library system was an earlier or later model with what looks like similar circuitry but a completely different layout. Good luck. Com Trek 9's are pretty cool radios. Mine still needs a little work, still have some noisy components that I need to find and replace....

Yes, they are certainly interesting radios. Another knockoff of the the transoceanics. (nothing wrong with that)

Thank you, Mitch. It might be a close match, but I'm not willing to chance 22 bucks for a Sam's download to find out. Would be nice if Sam's offered a preview function so one could be sure.

I think that radio pictured on the Sams was a Com Trek V. It was one I picked out from the Sears "Wish Book" at Christmas wayyyyyy back. Mom went to buy it and the substituted a ComTrek VII instead.

Here's to hoping you didn't hold the substitution against Mom.

The schematic shown above is the one I've got, it was the only schematic I was able to get at the local library.
It's a similar radio to the Com Trek 9, but the 9 seems to be laid out a bit differently. I found it helpful, though.

Doubtful. One of those multibank pushbutton types with the catch spring interlocks that engage one while releasing another on each band. I don't think I could find one like it and haven't seen another radio ever come up anywhere.

Did I just waste an hour of my time posting the schematic for Com Trek 4 instead of 9? Wow... and I thought I was being a real ' detective' by finding this schematic in Sams when it doesn't appear in the index. I'd bet the proper schematic shows up in later TSMs, but the highest one I have is #131 and #144. Anyway, I see what you mean there Gary. That push-button multi-switch might be hard to find. Using the wrong schematic listed above, the part number (2008302-242) doesn't show up on a Google search. Now I'll ask a silly question, did you try cleaning it with alcohol or contact cleaner? ~ Mitch ~

Thanks anyway for posting that, Mitch, the schematic was interesting.
According to the schematic you posted, the Com Trek 4 has an IC in the IF strip, which is something the 9 does not have. For what it's worth, the 9 was built in 1970, so my guess is whichever Sam's came out after that would possibly have the info on the 9.

Mitch, Cleaning won't help as it's a mechanical problem causing the switches to not lock in the down position. Has broken pieces of plastic falling out of the assembly.

Yes, indeed this seems to be quite the rarity.
