Tuning cap in Royal 20 is not looking too good. One or more pieces of poly have torn lose. Has anyone been able to take one of these apart and repair it? The radio works as it can tune a station at 1600 by playing with the trimmers but then as you tune down the dial, it gets scratchy and no more stations can tune in.

Part is Mitsumi PVC-2Z
Dimensions are 0.6" square and 0.4" tall. Shaft is 0.3" long from body. I have a lot of caps but none no where near this small.

Had to use a 10X eye loupe to get photo.

Some time ago I tried to repair one with no result, my advice get a new one even an unidentical one and adapt it.

I have two Royal 20's (one of my favorite sets), and the tuning cap in them is smaller than most other Transistor sets. Not only that, but the shaft is somewhat unique.

I would suggest just being on the lookout for another Royal 20 on eBay, and combining the best of each together. They don't go for that much.

Recapping is somewhat of a PITA, but they'll work very well on a few button cells, using a screw and bolt as an adjustable spacer in the battery compartment.
