I have a Ikasu dvd/tv portable player i have problems with the sliding on off switch and the pcb with the switch in .Is it possible to have the pcb with the switch removed +plus the two large polymer batterys (both flat )and have the player wired so that it only works when the mains Ac Adaptor inputac 110-230v/60hz output dc12v1.5a is switched on. I have photos but are to large not 256kib ? not sure how to make smaller ?

Welcome to the ARF forums ! !

Your question isn't really transistor radio related. :)
Perhaps one of the moderators can move it to the Antique Television Forum?

Not trying to be mean, but I don't really understand what you're asking.
If you've got an intermittent switch, it should clean up with isopropanol
alcohol and a Q-TIP, (or you could go to Radio Shack and get some contact cleaner).
Either way, moving the switch back and forth with some kind or cleaning solution
should bring the contacts back to normal.

Hopefully, this helps. But if not, please feel free to clarify your question.

The slide switch is broken and has been removed i think the pcb may be damaged so would like to remove if possible and wire up to just use the mains adaptor to turn on and off . Not sure if this can be done ? . If not i will dump it .

A picture is worth a thousand words, and I am sure we could help you if we could see the PC board, mains adapter, etc.

Open your pics, then open with Paint Shop, and use the re-size feature. I usually have to go down about 70 percent or so. Using the crop feature can also help.

When you then go to post, if they are still too big, simply re-size again. Sometimes it takes several reductions.

I didn't see where the board was damaged, and you didn't say what the polymer batteries are for.
Other than connecting two points together, what else was connected? If it were only two, you could jumper them, and plugging in an AC adapter would turn the set on, but if there are other connections that need to be made as well, you need to determine what else would need to be jumpered.

If the on-board batteries need to be connected when on, and disconnected when off, you would still need a switch.

The only thing removed is the switch (broken) the batterys do not charge so are not needed (not sure why there are two? what does a jumper look like ?How do i fit a jumper over the switch, i will have to check if there is contact across the 3 holes ? i would be happy if it worked just with the adaptor .

Here is an up to date photo off the pcb after a second switch which only worked for a short time was removed i think you see some damage .it was running on what little power was in the battery it said low on power on screen and went off i tried it on the mains adaptor and it would not work so i removed the switch.

Far from fitting in on the "Antique" TV forum either. Probably makes more sense to ask at sci.electronics.repair .
