the only one that I think might be working below par is the TO. It's just never lived up to my expectations

Perhaps Transoceanic radios aren´t as good as we though, I have a D7000Y and it doesn´t live up to my expectation neither.

I love all your radio well almost all, except one the RS DX440. A year ago I bought one and immediately sold it I couldn ´t stand the cho-cho.

At what frequency did you do the test ?

Same as you, 15.6 Mhz with 10% modulation. If your generator is calibrated, we could still be different by 3 db. Some generators have output levels that reflect unloaded output, and some reflect the output level with the proper termination. The Boonton output level is correct with a 50 ohm load (and I doubt that any of these radios is 50 ohms at 15.6 Mhz). My Jung Jin synthesized generator, which is a similar vintage to yours, is close when it is unloaded.

I use the DX440 because the dial is accurate. Mostly it is a piece of test equipment for spotting local oscillators when aligning radios. It is also quick to set the frequency with the keypad.
