Hello to all there.
I have a Sony ICF-2010.
I need to know the proper size of plug (mm OD inner and outp), to use with this radio.
I have to buy one to put the Radio Shack power adapter on its tip.
In advance, thank you all for help.

First welcome to the forums.

From my understanding it is this type of plug...

Discussed here... https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic ... BJuz-oU5G0

It is generally listed as 4 mm OD, 1.7 mm ID, 9.5 mm length

Appears to be these... https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/CU ... kUdg%3d%3d
Datasheet here... http://www.mouser.com/ds/2/670/pp-013-1154962.pdf

Note: There was some discussion about the center conductor being the negative connection. I cannot confirm this.

It looks like it might be Radio shack Adaptaplug B https://www.radioshack.com/products/rad ... aptaplug-b

What center pin? You mean in the radio? If so, then the P/S that originally came with it would have to have had one of two different connectors. Not something that I would expect from Sony (or really any other maker).

Hi there.
Thank you all for answering.
I'm going to buy some of this on ebay to prove what works: https://www.ebay.com/itm/8in1-Universal ... 0005.m1851

With that selection it would appear to be their item G.

It would be helpful for future reference if you posted your end result when you acquire this. In the prior thread I referenced, the original poster no doubt eventually proved beyond a doubt which was the correct plug, but they never posted their final result. I find that very frustrating.

Ok Curtis.
Or maybe a type C, anyway I will come here again and publish what works, without forgetting that the center pin is negative.
Thanks again to all for your collaboration.

If those colors are universal, all my Sony radios use the green one "B" 6X3

Center pin is "Negative"

it's possible the ICF-2010 is different, I don't have one to confirm.

Well, of course I meant the centre pin in the radio - what else. Not in that particular radio, but sockets in general. You have to assume that as he is looking for the plug then he hasn't got the power supply to compare

Here is a pic from our catalogue of two almost identical plugs with different sizes of centre socket.

Although both outers are 5.5mm, the centre socket is 2.1 or 2.5mm diameter.

The OD is in the area of 4 to 5 millimeters, ID, about 2mm, shaft length 10mm. I'm relying on damn near 73 Y.O. orbs, and a worn ruler, so don't consider this as lab grade measurements. The outer metal is positive, inner is negative. Here's a scan;

Well, I just measured my green adapter and it's 4.5 MM OD, Not 6x3 so it must be a different set than the ebay ones in the photo.

Our measurements do coincide for a typical Sony power plug.
