Hello everybody,
During a dumpster diving mission, i got an vintage RV-103S witch seems to work perfectly and have a great sensitivity in my opinion. I suppose the reason it has been thrown to garbage is its keyboard witch is defective and is no longer available thru Furuno spare parts. its S-meter is also dead (applying voltage on it is OK) I've tried to restore the keyboard without much success, i must admit disassembling it again is a pain... I would appreciate somebody to show me a way to find this (even used) part and service manual ?
Thank you very much 73 de F04MM

Hi My first post here so be gentle with me. RV-103S is indeed an excellent receiver. Built like proverbial brick outhouse. But next best thing to useless if the keyboard is defective. I do have PDF of the owners manual if you are still interested. It contains all schematics as was normal for the period.

Build up a 'outboard' keyboard
I found a picture of the radio. It does not look complicated at all

On the other hand repair MIGHT be an option
If that keyboard used real switches inside maybe you can find replacements at DigiKey If however that used spot contacts on the board well then that is sol

OK
Lets say that radio is mine [I have to think that way] I would get a magnifying glass and see if there is not a vendor name on that thing or at least on the switches. I doubt Furuno would actually custom make a keyboard- probably something off the shelf. Their tech support probably don't give a rats ass to bend over backwards to try to help. It is better for them to for a sucker er customer to buy a new radio.
No luck?
Then go to Digikey.com {there are others of course] and there are HUNDREDS of keyboards. Just need to find something that size and something that can be rewired
How about Ebay?
