While at Hamvention in Dayton this weekend, I picked up this interesting tuning capacitor and dial assembly from what appears to be a communications receiver from possibly the mid 1930s.

The brand appears to be "De Jong" and the company name at the bottom states "De Adco Products --- Chicago, U. S. A."
It has a unique gearshift mechanism that allows switching between main tuning and bandspread by pushing and pulling on the shaft. Quite unique!

Is anyone here familiar with this company? Any information of what this communications receiver looked like?

The few books I have on communications receivers have nothing on this company.

Thanks!

-Steve

Well, no responses indicates nobody has heard of them.

While perusing through the book "Communications Receivers" by Raymond S. Moore, I did find one that has a similar dial, but as it is a very low-res image, it is hard to tell.

Quote:
General Manufacturing Co. Chicago, was a coil manufacturer. They put out a kit receiver using their coils.

Though the band coverage does not match, the dial almost looks like it has the same brand marking. Though, again, it is really hard to tell.
