Good day all. I have added an RBC Receiver to my collection that seems to work quite well. All I plan on doing with it at this time is some cosmetic work. To that end I'm in need of some knobs. I'm wondering if any of you folk might be able to steer me in the right direction.

Naturally I'd like original knobs but at this point I'll consider some that are "close".

Thanks for any ideas!

Looks like your unit has only 1 non-original knob (on the lower-left).

I've played the same game, upgrading knobs whenever I can find them. They're all a standard pattern, so matching isn't the problem. Finding ones with good surface finish is difficult.

Yup and the crank sure makes it a much nicer band scanner. Navy radiomen didnt touch that knob very often.

Looks like the original RCA knob also has a crank.

I have one spinner knob, but missing the spinner part; only a flat area and a tapped hole where it goes. Also that knob appears to have been painted a purplish gray and then black (rubbing with acetone eventually removes the paint layers). The paint is badly scratched but the underlying Bakelite looks tolerably good.

I have five of the medium knobs that may nor may not be shinier than what you have. They're certainly better than some others I have, all grainy and pitted, looks like fifty years of weather exposure but I expect it happened in a lot less than fifty years and they just used lousy Bakelite.

I have several of the small ones too. I haven't compared them directly to the knobs on my RBB but as far as I know, these only came in three sizes.

Alan, would you be interested in selling some of those knobs?

Thanks everyone for your comments......

Correct, they came with a spinner but they often broke in use and when I was involved with them in the 60's spares were not available at tender or pier/base spares level so it was off to the local ham store for the usual alternate as became SOP on the HQ-129X

My own RBB/RBC have one of each.
