I have a 1980's Icom IC R70 receiver with broken shafts on the Monitor Control variable resistor, and on the AGC switch. Both items are also missing their knobs. Icom customer service says there is no OE stock of these parts remaining.
Is there a source for generic knobs with an appearance similar to the Icom knobs and with an identical ID of the older knobs?
Is there a generic source for the MC resistor and AGC switch?
In a worst case, both switches work at present; I'll need to build/attach a shaft extension. Any suggestions?
Thanks, Gary, W0AB

I have installed a shaft extension on a broken volume pot shaft. I center punched the broken shaft with a carbide tipped dremel tool and the drilled and tapped it for 4/40" or 6/32" I don't remember which as I have slept since then. I then drilled and tapped a like size piece of shaft which I cut from a junk pot. I then cut the head off a screw of the same thread type, coated it with red locktight and screwed it into both sides untill the shafts mated up. I let it dry over night. The repair was not perfectly concentric but it worked and I never had a problem with it comming loose.

Koby, that sounds like a workable, work-around. Had thought about that route, but your drilling and tapping provided the final steps. The switches have an arc of service less than 120 degrees, so less than perfect concenctricity wouldn't be a real problem. Thanks for the suggestion.
