Like Mike I have had zero problems with the tiny tubular caps. I have replaced quite a few mica but certainly not to the point that they are suspect. The majority have been in Collins 75A family receivers and in the SX-42/62 FM discriminator can with a few others in Hallicrafters IF transformers.

I don't recall any in the SX-100 but realize that not all domino caps are mica, there were quite a few paper ones in that style. I don't recall running across any red/maroon color domino caps that were paper but I have seen quite a few brown and black that were highly leaky paper. At one time I thought all of the brown and black were paper but that was not correct.

I have finally achieved victory. Inside the second converter sub-chassis the 120K resistor on the grid of V5 was open. On my radio it is buried under a couple other parts which I had to remove to measure it. No sign of overheating, just decided to retire from service. Signal strength meter seems to be working fine now and I have much improved sensitivity. Now I'll put it all back together and do the alignment and see if the adjustments of T9 go back to normal.

Thanks for all the suggestions and help. It's so nice to see it work right after all the work...73...Mike
