Hi Dan,
Would check the internal spkr to make sure the cone is free. Also check the external spkr jack maybe making a poor connection causing it to mute the internal spkr.
Come to think of it I had a similar problem w/my HTX-100. Used it a lot mobile in the mid '90s

Okay thanks will do that today. How about the FM receive improvement what and where is T-3 is that a small can transformer?

Don't know abt the FM. The HTX-100 was the forerunner of the HTX-10. The'100 doesn't have fm or am capabilities just cw & ssb @25w output. You can poke around here: https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/HTX-HF_TECH/info
Personally I'd leave it alone if it's working ok.
