Hello .

I found a RCAF RCA ATR-11A radio set , seems it's ww2 era , new, unused in it's original wood transport box with it's shock mount.
Unfortunately , i can't seem to be able to locate any information on it . Not a manual not a schematic nada ..

ANY information on this set will be appreciated.

Ric

For info on Canadian military radio, try Jerry Proc. http://jproc.ca/rrp/index.html

Good luck. The ATR-11 manual has apparently eluded all others. I even wrote a national Canadian military museum, don't remember which right now, no reply. All I or we have seen is a one-page schematic that Etco provided with these many years ago.
Just curious, did you get the dynamotor, control boxes, and LF tuner ?

Also - this sounds like maybe the one advertised a few years back on a Canadian French language selling site. I made an offer on it,
and I also made a very generous offer for a copy of a manual. I later figured out why the seller had not replied to my offer on the manual - he had no more than me. I think he only had maybe a list of the crate's contents.

The controls/ phones etc are all missing , no trace of a power supply either .
I guess ill just pass on this one and concentrate on more documented / known equipment.

The owner thought he'd get like 1000 cdn for it cause it's new .. i wouldn't give him a fiver. :D

As I recall, I made a big offer on the thing, you would be shocked if you knew how much, and i'd be shocked now if he had taken my offer,
i'd be shocked and very regretful. At the time I didn't realize how incomplete the set was. I think I maybe have the most complete ATR-11 around, not necessarily the best condition, but I do have dynamotor, control boxes, LF tuner. If I had it to do over, I would not again buy this
radio, as the freq range is only 2.5 - 6.7 MHz, and the tech data for it is so scanty. The radio was also intended for set-up channels so the
dial affair is not comfortable for tuning around. I'm stuck with the set and i guess that means it's become my own challenge to eventually
get it working, or find someone who can be truly dedicated to the same project.
Since there were few of these radios built, i wonder if the RCAF might have been better off buying some already existing U.S. manufacture
HF aircraft radio. The U.S. "Command Sets" would have had about the same power and overall, would take up about the same space and
weight. -Hue

Hello

Were you able to locate at least a schematic for the beast ? If so BAMA would be a great place to share it.
I have found zit on it.

All I have is a crowded one page schematic which is marked "ETCO". Hard to work from and really should be redrawn. I'll think about
scanning it for BAMA or where I have been sending things, Radionerds.com -H
