Hi. Hoping someone can help with my issue.
I opened up my boom box and accidentally pulled the antenna cord from a post on the board and can't figure out how to put it back. The unit works great, but without the antenna, the radio doesn't. I don't have a schematic but can post a photo if that helps.
thank you

Cord ? Do you mean wire ? If so solder it back to the pin on the board. Or post a picture.

You can post photos as attachments straight out of the chute. No need to wait 24Hrs.

Posting photos to a forum thread...

I have an almost identical JVC from 1980, albeit at a different location!

Thanks for helping me with this. I got one step closer. I did figure out where the wire goes ...however, I must have broken the end because I can't push it back in. Do I need a new connector? Can I solder it back in (doesn't appear that it will stay due to the shape). Here are some photos that I hope you can see. Yes, when I touch the connector to the port, the radio antenna works... the port says "Ant to Rod" so once I found that, I was a little closer. Thanks again!

That is a spade connector, and yes... it is broken-off!
I had a look at the schematic for my model JVC RC-656L/LB and there is a connector (of sorts) shown.

You could solder a short piece of insulated wire to both.

I will have a look at mine tomorrow, and report back... :)

Greg.

Edit: To leave it detachable in the future, pull that terminal apart with a pair of pliers (bottom photo).

Connect (crimp tightly with pliers) a new terminal to short piece of insulated wire, and solder the bare wire end to your connector.

Electrical spade connectors at Walmart...

Any Auto-parts store will also have them.

You will have to find someone to help you.
It's a five minute fix!

Greg.

Edit: Post you location - via user control panel - profile.
If you find a radio-club nearby, they will show how to solder... and more!

Hope so. Would that just be any electrical guy or does it have to be an electronics person?

Any tinkerer in the neighborhood should do.

can I ask you one more question. I have a toshiba table radio (11H-540F) that I believe needs an FM antenna.
AM works great but nothing FM. Is that the problem, I need some kind of antenna? If so, Can you suggest one?

thank you : )

If you remove that connection to the power lead, you can use an FM indoor dipole as shown in the small diagram (FM ANTENNA).

You can purchase them, ready-made...

or, just make you own with some cheap bell-wire. Run it along your baseboard.

Greg.

Edit: it doesn't have to change direction at 72" (sooner if you like).

Terrific! Thanks so much for your advice. I did find a tinkerer for my JVC issue that I am going to see on monday. I most definitely will watch the repair and learn from it!

Nice to meet you!
Really appreciate it!

I want to thank you again. I found my local fixer-upper. He attached the wire exactly as you described. I'll be ready to give it a go myself next time!

My bad... That is an ebay image.
Mine is in somewhat similar condition albeit with two broken antennas.

Greg.
