I just acquired a Grundig 2035/56 in fair condition, except that 3 of the 4 speakers, the main central one and the 2 side speakers have been none-too-gently removed at some point long ago. The little electrostatic speaker is still there, so that's something.

I can see that the big central speaker was 5 Ohm but I have no information as to what the rating of the side speakers would have been - does anyone know ? I have a basic schematic, but the data is just shown for the central one. Side speakers were both part number BV2149 if that helps.

If I'm looking for replacements and can't get an exact match, should I go for a higher or lower impedance ? e.g. should I replace the 5 Ohm main speaker with a 4 Ohm or an 8 Ohm ?

Any thoughts or ideas gratefully received !

Thanks
Chris

Hi Chris,

Judging from the schematic, the large speaker (part 364-000) is 5 ohm. The two side speakers (part 463-000) appear to be either 2.5 or 3.5 ohm, but the writing is so small that I can't really be sure. You should be OK with 4 ohm in either case. If you can find a Grundig junker of similar vintage, the speakers should work as direct replacements.

Despite being a relatively modest and simple set, the 2035 sounds absolutely great once you get it running.

Regards,

René

Thanks, Rene !

Hopefully I can get it working on a basic level and then improve it as I find the proper parts.
