Hello, all. I'm working on a Meteor model H radio set. The closest schematic I have found is for the Sterling model P set, below. I have the set playing but still have some performance issues to tease out, and I have a couple of questions.

First, is this circuit what is called a regenerative or super-regen circuit?

Second, what alignment if any is needed? I see only three adjustment screws, one on each section of the tuning cap. I guess I just adjust these for peak response?

The schematic shows a Tuned Radio Frequency (TRF) receiver. The three sections of the tuning condenser are ganged together. Tune in a weak station near the top of the dial and adjust the trimmers for peak response. The first two tubes are Radio Frequency (RF) amplifiers and amplify the signal tuned by the first two sections of the tuning condenser. The third tube is the detector, the input of which is tuned by the last section of the condenser. I see no regeneration in this set. This set was designed to use an outdoor long wire antenna and a ground connection. An indoor wire twenty feet long arranged around the room should work OK on locals, maybe farther away at night.

Reece, thanks for the response. I had assumed that what you desribed for 'alignment' was the case, but it's good to have confirmation from someone knowledgeable. And as you describe, the set works quite well with the few feet of wire I have on it, in my basement workshop no less. I tried a ground connection but it didn't seem to make any improvement in reception. Thanks again for your feedback.
