Hello, friends. Finally I have my first Atwater Kent Breadboard 10. I'm very happy to have this radio and appears to be in very good original condition. I've been checking the audiotransformers and these are good. I did as directed by this forum post. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=116638My question is, is 2 meg ohm grid leak resistor within the same island of xfomers? And, if so, how can I check the grid leak resistor without opening the pot? Here you can see some pictures of my radio. Thank you and grettings form Spain Carlos

The 2 meg resistor is in the "island" on the right- the three tube detector/amplifier. Just remove the four screws around the edge of the det/amp and the top will lift up slowly from the front. The resistor is soldered inside the top in a little glass sleeve; simply unsolder it and pull out the open element and replace it with a common resistor. There is a little piece of paper in the sleeve and it should stay there.
Usually both transformers are bad; the gentleman who makes the ARBEIII power supplies also sells replacement transformers that work very well. The original transformers are covered with lots of brittle tar which you will have to chip away. Generally I save the tar and remelt it, pouring it over the replacements; that has to be done in a disposable can heated slowly outdoors with a propane torch. You may just choose the chuck the tar.

Finally l resistor was on the inside of one of the coils. Was open. I have changed and the radio works. I was lucky because the audio transformers were good. Thank you.

CarlosRadio wrote: All right. I made the first test. Here's the video. It works. Although I have to find a good antenna. Any suggestions? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WL5TaWs4ubII am very glad you have it working. It sounds very good. For my antenna I have been using a long wire strung outside my house as I have a very large back garden. I tried a small internal wire antenna on the floor connected to a home built transistor RF amplifier. It did work but not as well as the outside long antenna.
