When the set is DOA, I start at the AC plug and work inward from there, through the power cord, the fuse if any, and the power switch. If I haven't turned up the problem by that time, the power supply is next.

My usual experience with DOA cases is an open power cord, usually at the base of a molded AC plug or at the point of chassis entry.

Model number?

I've had two KLH Twenty Ones (FM only) that were DOA. In both cases the audio driver (not output) was the problem. One also had some circuit board traces cracked around the tone controls.

Also, look around the power transformer, they were not well mounted, and a drop can break the wires loose.

I hope you do fix the radio, its a great sounding unit. A freind of mine has hounded me for years to give it to him, no chance. He will get it when I go to the land beyond, its in my Will! If you have a schematic for the 21 could you send me a copy? I'd appreciate.
