I'm in the process of restoring a Westinghouse model WR209 5-tube table radio from 1936. After replacing the old capacitors, I get some life; but, it squeals and squaks on every station on the AM broadcast band. And, 1010 comes in no matter where the dial is set. It even comes in with the osc/mixer tube removed. The short wave band; which, consist of the old police band, works almost like a radio is supposed to work.

I've double-checked all the new capacitors, checked voltages, checked resistors, and moved under chassis leads and parts around to see if that made a difference. Except for a weak oscillator section of the 6F7 tube, everything else checks fine. I suppose the next step will be for me to try another 6F7.

I made several youtube videos of this radio; but, pay close attention to parts 3 and 4. Those are the two videos that show this radio acting up.

Here's a schematic for the radio.

Can anyone think of something I may have missed?

With one station,local flame thrower?coming
in across the band I'd say osc. isn't running, have you checked the coil?
Have you tried picking up the osc in another radio?
