RCA R-71 Opinion Needed!!

My question is what you think I should do with this asbestos patch on the side of the cabinet?

It looks pretty ratty so I would prefer to just remove it but not sure what I would replace it with or at all?

You should trim off the 'shedding' bits and then pretend it doesn't exist.

Coat it with some PVA glue, and let it dry while you re-do the chassis.

Is it glued on of just affixed by the staples? If it just staples, pull them and remove the pad.

Take it outside and remove it.
Find a large piece of mica on Ebay or whatever and stick that on for heat protection
